Josephine Colloca, 102, of Oswego passed away peacefully at Seneca Manor with family members at her side Friday morning. October 23. 2020.

She was born in Oswego to the late Sebastiano and Domenica (Sammario) Colloca and was a life long resident.

Josephine had been employed by Taggart and Marathon Corps., and later was employed at local businesses owned by her siblings, namely Deluxe Cleaners and then, Tot ‘N Teen Children’s Clothing from where she retired.

She will be remembered for her kindness and her devotion to family. She doted on her nieces and nephews who became her life, many of whom were able to care for her during her time of need. Josephine showed a special kindness toward children. During her years at Tot ‘N Teen, she became affectionately known as “Aunt Josie” to the many children she served.

Josephine was proud of her Italian heritage. The family will always hold dear to their hearts, the family traditions, the many gatherings at the dining table enjoying Italian cuisine, conversation, fun and laughter, as well as, delicious desserts due to Josephine’s special gift as a baker. She will be greatly missed.

In addition to her love of baking, she was an avid gardener and thoroughly enjoyed planting flowers and manicuring her lawn. She definitely had a green thumb.

She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph’s Church.

In addition to her parents Josephine was predeceased by her seven siblings, Mary Cutro, Carmello Colloca, Joseph Colloca, Domenic Colloca, James Colloca, John Colloca and Jane Colloca and a nephew, Richard Cutro.

Josephine is survived by a sister-in-law, Mary Helen Colloca and her many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday October 31, 2020 at 9:00 AM in St. Joseph Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday October 30, 2020 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home, 147 W. 4th. St Oswego. Face Masks will be required in accordance with NYS Mandates. Anyone planning on attending the Funeral Mass will need to call the rectory at 315-343-2333 to register.
