John LeVea

John LeVeaJohn LeVea, 79; of Fulton died Sunday, April 26, 2009 at Oswego Hospital after a long illness. Mr. LeVea was a native of Fulton.  He was a United States Veteran having served in the Army during WWII in the military police stationed in Italy.  Mr. LeVea retired from Jefferson Smurfit, Fulton after 45+ years of service.  He was a member of the Pathfinder Fish and Game Club, Red Creek Rod and Gun Club, Newark Rod and Gun Club, Inc., Ilion Rod and Gun Club, and Pine Tree Point Gun Club.  He was an avid Skeet Shooter who qualified as one of the Top Shooters in the over 70 Division.  Mr. LeVea was a past member of the Knights of Columbus and a communicant of Holy Trinity Church, Fulton.  Mr. LeVea was pre-deceased by his wife Vernice LeVea in 2000, his sons George LeVea in 2008 and Jean LeVea in 2009.  He is survived by his children John LeVea Jr. of Alabama, Denise LeVea of Fulton, Donna LeVea of Rochester, and Sue LeVea of Fulton, his daughter-in-laws Maureen LeVea and Wendy LeVea both of Fulton, 3 sisters Mary Penkala, Anne Grassi,  Kathryn Younis all of Fulton, 2 brothers William Louis LeVea of Phoenix, and Robert LeVea of CA, 4 grandchildren:  Jessica (Jeremy), John, Jake, and Rachel, 2 great grandchildren: Chloe and Calie, and several nieces and nephews.  Funeral  Services will be conducted at 9:30 AM Friday in Holy Trinity Church, Fulton where a mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.  Burial will be held immediately following the service in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fulton with his son Jean LeVea’s spring burial to follow at 11:00 AM.  Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at the Sugar Funeral Home, Inc., 224 W. 2nd St. S. Fulton.
