John L. Gioia, 62; of Oswego died Tuesday at Oswego Hospital after a long illness. He was born in Oswego to the late Philip and Hazel (Ritchie) Gioia. Mr. Gioia was a lifetime resident of Oswego. He was past employed with the Oswego City School District as a Bus Driver. Mr. Gioia was also a former member of the Scriba Volunteer Fire Department. He was pre-deceased by his brother Philip Gioia and granddaughter Holly Gioia. Mr. Gioia is survived by his wife of 37 years Grace Gioia of Oswego, 4 children: Shannon Gioia of Oswego, John L. Gioia II of Oswego, Elery (Alicia) Gioia of Redfield, NY; and Timothy Gioia of Oswego, his sister Margaret (Bradford) Beers of Oswego, 8 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be held privately. There will be no calling hours. The Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home, Inc., 147 W. 4nd St. Oswego has care of the arrangements.
