Joan Calkins, 87; formerly of Hannibal, NY passed peacefully Monday at St. Luke Health Services, Oswego. She was born in Oswego, NY to the late Lawrence and Margaret (Weber) Familo. Mrs. Calkins remained a resident of Hannibal for most of her life. She was a loving wife, mother, and homemaker. Mrs. Calkins was a past member of Columbiettes. She enjoyed going to lunch at the Olive Garden with family and friends, watching baseball, especially the NY Mets. Mrs. Calkins loved chocolate, cross stitch, completing word searches, and having an occasional beer.

She was pre-deceased by her husband Charles Calkins, grandchildren: Adam Hollenbeck, Jennifer Hollenbeck, and siblings: Lawrence, Thomas, and Joseph Familo.

Mrs. Calkins is survived by her children: Charles A. Calkins of Fulton, Victoria Calkins of Hannibal, Dorothy Lockwood of Fulton, Karen Familo of TX, and Sandra Rude of Oswego, and siblings: Gerry Davis of Oswego, Mary Sugar of Fulton, Carol Alfieri of Oswego, and Pat Squitieri of Minetto; 3 grandchildren: Matthew, Stephanie, and Morgan, great grandchild Leah, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services and Calling Hours will be held privately. Burial will be also be conducted privately in Hannibal Village Cemetery, Hannibal, NY.

The Sugar Funeral Home Inc., 224 W. 2nd St. S., Fulton has care of the arrangements. Face Masks, Hand Sanitizing and Capacity Limits will apply in adherence with NYS Mandates.
