Donald T. Penfield Sr.,73, of 1422 County Rte 53, Scriba died Thursday unexpectedly at his home. He was born in Scriba and has been a lifetime resident. Mr. Penfield retired as a heavy equipment operator for the Town of Scriba after twenty years of service. He was predeceased by his son Donald T.Penfield Jr. April 3, 2007. Mr. Penfield is survived by his wife of fifty-two years Dixie Penfield of Scriba, his daughters Julie (Leon) Brummett of Oswego, and Judy Izzo of Oswego, his son-in-law Dominic Izzo of Oswego. In addition to his wife and children he survived by his brothers Paul Penfield and Dick Penfield both of Scriba, and sisters Helen Babcock and Fran Wadas both of Scriba and Peg Troglin of Texas. He had three grandchildren Dominic Izzo, Stephanie Izzo, and Jenna Brummett, and one great grandson Nathan Frey. Funeral services will be conducted Monday 10:00 a.m. at the Sugar and Scanlon Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce Schrader. Burial will be in Peck Cemetery. Calling hours will Sunday 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Sugar and Scanlon Funeral Home 147 West Fourth Street Oswego.
He was one of THEE BEST that God has ever put on this Earth. His smile and personality could charm the birds right out of the trees. He touched everyones heart and made them feel like a million bucks. He loved his Dixie, his family, and everyone around him.
God has a very special place for him in Heaven. My heart goes out to all of you in this most difficult time.
