Derick Mattice, 30; of Syracuse, NY passed away unexpectedly at home early Thursday morning. He was born in Watertown, NY. Derick worked for River Valley Foods, Syracuse, NY. He loved his dog Machete and he enjoyed playing X-Box. Derick was also an avid drawer. He is survived by his parents Billie Jean and Nathan Hollis of Volney, NY, his 9 siblings: Michael Mattice of TN., Jeaniemarie Battles of Laconia, NY; Abram Salisbury of Volney, NY; Kayleigh Hollis of NC; Nathaniel Hollis of Fulton, NY; Jonathan Hollis, William Hollis, Benjamin Hollis, and Samuel Hollis all of Volney, NY; Maternal Grandparents: Paul and Jean Poole of Pulaski, NY; and William Mattice of Phoenix, NY; 2 aunts: Marie Bennett and Marguerite Mattice both of Pulaski, NY and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will be having a Celebration of Life. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be held privately. The Sugar Funeral Home, Inc., 224 West Second St. S., Fulton, NY has care of the arrangements.

Derick, my sugar bear, my forever… you are the love of my life and my soul mate. We knew that from the very beginning. What was year felt like so much more. We had the best year of our lives together. Your love was true and so powerful I can feel it now. I love with with all that I am and gave you my heart forever. You kept your promise to me to love me for the rest of your life and my sweet Derick, I will always love you. Please rest and know I love you all the days, all the nights, all the hours, all the minutes, all the seconds because you are my lover.
Derick was much loved by our family and will be greatly missed. Our Colleen has lost her best friend and life partner. Condolences to his mother, Billie Jean his siblings and other family and friends.
