August G. Loomis, 85; passed away at his home in Las Cruces, NM. Mr. Loomis was born in Fulton, NY to the late Guy and Nettie (Barnes) Loomis. He was a lifetime resident of Fulton except for 12 years when he lived in TN and until recently moving to CA and then to NM. Mr. Loomis was a United States Veteran having served in the Army during the Korean War from 1950-1953. During this time he was stationed in the States and Germany. Mr. Loomis retired from Oswego County Highway Department with over 20 years of service. He was a past member of the Fulton Men’s Chorus, and Fulton Senior Chorus. Mr. Loomis was pre-deceased by his wife Lillian (Dietrich) Loomis, his siblings: Seth Loomis, Floyd Loomis, Ben Loomis, Hattie Stoutenger. Mr. Loomis is survived by his daughter Shelley Peterson, fiancée Carrie Palmer of CA, 3 sisters: Vivian Semeraro of Fulton, Pearl House of Fulton, May Stratton of Oswego, 2 grandchildren: Nathaniel and Heather, 2 great granddaughters, and several nieces and nephews. Graveside Service and Burial at Jacksonville Cemetery, Lysander, NY will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. The Sugar Funeral Home, Inc., 224 W. 2nd St. S., Fulton has care of the arrangements.
