Timothy L. “Nimmer” Benway, 33; of Oswego, NY; passed away on Saturday, March 14th, 2026.
Timothy was born in Syracuse, NY and he has been a lifelong resident of Oswego, NY. Timothy, known to many friends as “Nimmer,” was preceded in death by his brother: Justin Purdy. Those who knew Timothy understood the incredibly strong bond he shared with his brother, and how the loss of Justin affected him profoundly. Timothy struggled with addiction for many years. Despite the difficult challenges and choices he faced in his daily life, Timothy remained deeply loved and cherished by his family.
He will be dearly missed by his children: Bella Rose Lawson, Aiden Benway, Madison Benway, Carter Benway, Eli Goodway and Everett Walker, his parents: Donna Benway of Auburn, NY and Timothy Benway of Sandy Creek, NY; his sisters: Michelle Kingsley; Kaira Benway, and Alexandra Benway all of Auburn, NY and Jessica Lee of NC. Timothy is also survived by his girlfriend: Erika Knapp, several aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members and his beloved dog: Legend.
Calling Hours will be held from 3:30 to 5:00 PM Monday at the Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home, 147 W. 4th St., Oswego, NY. Burial will be conducted privately.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made in Timothy’s memory to Farnham Family Services, 283 W. 2nd St. #200, Oswego, NY 13126; to help continue supportive addiction recovery and help others that are facing similar struggles.
Nimmer was a kind caring soul.he will be missed and in my thoughts daily.i remember the last time I talked to him on his dad’s phone.it still in my head to this day.he now has his angel wings ,and no more pain in his heart.im sorry for his mom and sisters and his dad.im his aunt Jodi and I love him very much life will never be the same.i wish I could be there but live in ga.but I’m there in heart soul and mind
