Richard F. Murney, 65; of Oswego, NY passed suddenly Sunday, August 7th at his home. Rich was a self-proclaimed gin aficionado having enjoyed some spirits now and then. He was a teller of awful jokes which also included being the giver of politically incorrect birthday and holiday cards as many of the family and friends were accustomed to receiving along with the laughter that followed the gesture.

Burial will be held privately in Waterloo, NY.

It was an absolute pleasure serving Murney at Gibby’s Irish Pub. You brought so much light and laughter to the bar, and made my four years there so enjoyable. I hope you’re at a bar in the sky ordering just “one more,” even though that one was never the last one. 🙂
Sending love to Greg, Jamie, and the rest of Murney’s family.

I am so sorry to learn of Rich’s passing. I remember him well as both a football and baseball player during the mid 70’s and the hey day of Waterloo football. I last saw him when the undefeated 1974 football team was inducted in the Hall of Fame. Rich had an even temper approach to sports but was very passionate with his effort in helping us win. My sympathies to Kim and Sue and all of Rich’s family. Joe Sposato former Waterloo Coach and Athletic Director

To Kim and Sue our condolences to you upon hearing of Rich’s passing. I enjoyed so many good times with Rich playing fast pitch with him and the Dinan’s. Such an easy going man and a sports fanatic as well.
Sean, Kim, Sue and Karin,
We are so sadden by the sudden and unfortunate loss of Rich. Although we did not spend much time with Rich, we got to know him so well through you all and your stories and sharing his humorous cards and comments.
Your stories shared over these many years showed how Rich was a great dad, brother, uncle, brother-in-law, father-in-law, grandfather, sports enthusiast, hunter and his pure enjoyment of his friends and his community. We know there are no words to take the pain away, but the incredible memories, stories and his humor is deep in your hearts. All of our love, comfort and support during this difficult time.
We love you,
Kathy & Marilyn

Sean,
Your father was one of the best people to be with and around. Eric told me of his passing and all I could say was I never saw anyone ever be mad at him. Even though it’s been awhile since I’ve seen him I will miss his laugh, his wit and those ever smiling eyes. First to buy you a drink, last to accept praise. Our lacrosse trips to the final 4’s are always a legendary talk. He will be missed.
