
Philip A. Sugar of Berwyn, PA died peacefully on August 4, 2024, at the age of 91 after contending with congestive heart failure for several years.
He was born August 27, 1932, in Oswego, NY to Joseph and Josephine Sugar. He graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a bachelor’s in electrical engineering, received his master’s degree from Ohio State University and his MBA from TCU. He had a long career in strategic planning in the oil industry. He was a loving husband to Dorothy Molyet Sugar of Fremont, Ohio for 41 years, until her passing on June 25, 2003. He was a devoted parishioner and volunteer at St. Norbert’s church for over 45 years. He loved cooking, gardening, and telling stories about his seven beautiful grandchildren, Meredith, Emma, Philip, Grace, Brian, Antoine and Lucie.
He is also survived by his daughters Anne (Al) Hammond of Andover, MA and Carol (Jim) Altrichter of Newark, DE; sons Philip (Lisa) Sugar of Chesapeake City, MD, Thomas (Zoe) Sugar of Chandler, AZ, and Gregory Sugar of San Francisco, CA. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Mary Sugar, and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Sugar was also predeceased by his three brothers Joseph, John and Samuel Sugar.
He will be buried with his wife, Dorothy M. Sugar in the Sugar Family plot in Fulton, NY.
Calling hours will be conducted on Friday, August 9, 2024, from 4-6 pm at the Sugar Funeral Home Inc., 224 W. 2nd, S. Fulton.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, August 10 at Holy Trinity Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Joseph Scardella.
Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fulton.
