Joseph P. Ferlito

Joseph P. Ferlito, 71, of Oswego passed away on Saturday June 29, 2024 at his home peacefully after a long courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease.

He was born in Oswego, the son of the late Angelo and Patricia (Parker) Ferlito.  He began his career working at the family farm A. Ferlito Farms, but being an entrepreneur at heart, he started his own JP Ferlito Farms, Main Street Market and other various business ventures throughout the years. He was the developer and builder of Brittany Hill subdivision in Oswego and continued to build residential homes throughout his life.

Joe transformed the historic Buckhout-Jones building in the heart of downtown of Oswego into a brewpub, as a trailblazer in the new industry. In later years he worked various construction jobs and projects prior to retiring. Having a love for the land, during his retirement Joe found peace in gardening, as well as traveling. He enjoyed day trips to his many favorite local areas, and weekend excursions to further away areas, especially enjoying the Finger Lakes region and much of Canada. He loved enjoying quality food with family and friends, especially authentic Italian cuisine, and or Sicilian food as his favorites. He was a loving family man, loyal friend to many and his grandchildren were the apple of his eye.

Joe is survived by his life partner of 29 years, Lauren Comerford of Oswego, his children Christa (Brent Bradley) Hook of CO, Christopher “CJ” (Sarah Leto) Ferlito of NC, Alexis “Lexie” (Zachery Coe) Ferlito of Oswego, and stepchildren Shane Comerford, Ian Comerford, and Kelcey Comerford.

He is also survived by his loving grandchildren Sophia Hook, Logann Hook, Jordan Ferlito, Aubree Pelow, Penelope Coe, step grandchildren Carter Comerford, Frances Crucitti, Brielle Crucitti, Skylar Crucitti, and Ariah Comerford; his brothers Daniel (Amy Borglum) Ferlito, and Angelo (Angela) Ferlito.

He is also survived by his aunts Bea Frani, and Kathy Geers, former son-in-law John Hook, and daughter-in-law Maria Estela Ferlito, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Joe was loved by many and will be greatly missed, a Celebration of Life will be celebrated Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Two Flags, 3744 County Rte. 4, Oswego, NY.
