John F. Sherman, 83; of Fulton passed away peacefully at Seneca Hill Manor, Volney after a short illness. Mr. Sherman was born in Fulton, NY to the late John H. and Theresa (Joslyn) Sherman Jr. During his childhood Mr. Sherman resided in Hannibal, NY and later moved with his family to Phoenix, NY. He has been a resident of Fulton, NY since 1985. Mr. Sherman was a United States Veteran having served in the Army during the 1960’s. He worked for Sealright Co., Fulton for five years, Reliance Electric as an Electrician and he was a 29-year employee as an Installer with Western Electric (AT&T,) Syracuse, NY. Mr. Sherman loved country music, dogs and especially sports. He volunteered for many years as a Fulton Youth Hockey Coach and Liverpool Youth Soccer Coach.
Mr. Sherman and his wife were pre-deceased by their son Timothy Sherman on November 16, 2017.
Mr. Sherman is survived by his wife of 56 years Laura Sherman of Fulton, their son and daughter-in-law Ted (Angela Pappalardo) Sherman of Williamsville, NY; 3 siblings: Vern Sherman, Anita Rice, and Carol Harold; and 3 beloved grandchildren: Ian, Audrey, and Nina.
A Graveside Service will be held privately at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fulton with Deacon Nick Alvaro officiating.
There will be no calling hours. Sugar Funeral Home Inc., 224 W. 2nd St. S., Fulton has care of the arrangements.
Donations may be made in honor of Mr. Sherman to Oswego County Opportunities 239 Oneida St., Fulton, NY 13069 or the Oswego County SPCA PO Box 442, Fulton, NY 13069. Facial Masks will be required for those attending in adherence with the NYS Mandates.
