Jean B. Egnew, 91; of Oswego passed away at Oswego Hospital after a long illness. She was born in Bollington, England to the late Ester (Simcock) and Thomas Braddock.
While living in England she was employed to help manufacture military service uniforms. Her family also allowed use of their family farm as a place of refuge for survivors of the war. While living in the United States Mrs. Egnew was past employed for 20 years with General Electric, Syracuse. She was also a past member of the VFW Auxiliary. Jean loved to sing, play the bones and tend to her flowers. Mrs. Egnew was pre-deceased by her son Tim LaQuire, and daughter Marlene Haselbauer, 2 step-children: Penny Egnew and Dale Egnew, 5 grandchildren, and several siblings. Mrs. Egnew is survived by her husband of 45 years Keith Egnew of Oswego; children: Vincent (Betty) LaQuire of Fulton, Kathleen (Robert) Ruggio of Oswego, and Kim Ellingwood of Scriba, step-children: Merry (Ray) Hauver of NC, Brian (Mary) Egnew, and David Egnew both of West Lydon, NY; sibling: Brian Braddock, 25 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be conducted Saturday from 9:00 to 10:00 AM in Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home, 147 W. 4th St., Oswego with a 10:00 AM Memorial Service to follow in the funeral home with Rev. John Smegelsky. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Oswego.
