Harry B. Place

Harry B. Place, 83; formerly of Fulton died at Groton Nursing Facility after a long illness. He was born in Oswego, NY and he has been a resident of Freeville, NY since 1988. Mr. Place was United States Veteran having served in the Army Air force as a Sergeant during WWII in the Pacific Theater. He was the recipient of the WWII Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal. He was past employed as a Business Manager for Burritt, Oswego, NY and auto dealers in both Oswego and Ithaca, NY. He was a communicant of Holy Cross Church, Dryden, NY. Mr. Place is survived by his wife of 61 years: Mary R. (Bevacqua) Place of Freeville, NY, and 4 sons: Gary (Vauna) R. Place of Jacksonville, FL, Harry B. “Ben” (Sharon) Place Jr., of Fort Meyers, FL, Richard Place of Dryden, NY, and Gerald (Pam) Place of Newfield, NY; 2 brothers: Al Place of Albany, NY and Alan Burnham of Canton, NY, 3 sisters: Barbara Seymour of Syracuse, NY; Carolyn Dumas of IL, and Cornelia Lord of WA, 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 1great great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at the Sugar Funeral Home, Inc., 224 W. 2nd St. S. Fulton. A graveside service will follow at 11:00 AM in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fulton, NY with Rev. Eric Harer officiating. Contributions may be made to the Groton Nursing Facility Activities Committee, 120 Sykes St., Groton, NY 13073.
