Esther C. Paine, 93, of Granby died Tuesday November 6, at her son Benjamin’s home after a short illness. Mrs. Paine was born in Lysander the daughter of the late Frank and Jane Paine. Mrs. Paine along with her family owned and operated Paine Farms. Mrs. Paine was predeceased by her husband O. Brewster Paine. She is survived by two sons Oliver (Cindy) Paine, and Benjamin Paine, both of Granby, one brother Robert Cook of Lysander, five grandchildren, Oliver, Michael, Seth, Ethan, and Jeremy, and one great granddaughter Meredith. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Sunday November 18, 2012 at the Sugar Funeral Home 224 W. 2nd St. Fulton.

Although I don’t know the family, I want to extend my condolences to you. Mrs. Paine was a wonderful person and I really looked forward to seeing her and catching up every sping when the downtown Syracuse Farmer’s Market opened. I sought her out every Tuesday until the fall, missed seeing her in the winter and would have a wonderful and happy reunion every spring when the market opened again. She was fun to talk with and I always would buy her beautiful gladiolas and yummy tomatoes. I’m sorry for your loss, but as I hope you are, I am comforted in the knowledge that after a life well lived, she is in a peaceful place and enjoying a well earned rest.
