Anthony Taormina, 82, of Oswego died Thursday at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Minetto the son of the late Phillip and Antonina (Castiglia) Taormina, and he has lived in Oswego all his life. Mr. Taormina served in the United States Navy during World War II from 1943 until 1945. He and his wife have always enjoyed attending the military reunions. He worked for the carpenters Local Union # 747 until his retirement. Mr. Taormina was a carpenter who took pride in his work and enjoyed each new challenge. He was a wealth of knowledge in his field. His greatest pride and joy was spending time with his family and working on his carpentry. Mr. Taormina is survived by his wife whom he married August 24, 1946 Helen Rose Pompei Taormina of Oswego, and their children Toni (Robert) Tobin of Pittsfield, MA, Marion (Jerry) Pooler of Oswego, Annette (Dan) Dullen of Baldwinsville, Anthony (Cynthia) Taormina of Liverpool, Mark Taormina of Oswego. In addition to his wife and children he is survived by his brothers Nicholas and Larry Taormina, sister Anna Demmons and thirteen grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters James, Frederick, Samuel, Joseph, Tony,and Larry Taormina, Mary Malambri, Susan Frani, and Kathleen Arduini. Funeral services will be conducted Monday 9:00 from the Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home and 9:30 a.m in St. Paul’s Church. Burial will be in All Saints Mausoleum. Calling Hours will be Sunday 4:00 – 7:00 at the funeral home 147 West Fourth Street, Oswego. Mark , I am so sorry to hear of your fathers passing. I also recently lost a parent and relize the extreme sadness that fills your sole. my heart goes out to you and your family.
