Shirley Waloven, 93; formerly of Fulton, NY went peacefully to God on Saturday, December 23rd, 2023; at her home in Snow Hill, NC after enduring a lingering illness.
Shirley was born in Fulton, NY to the late Octave “Victor” and Dorothy (Beadle) LeRoux. She remained a longtime resident of Fulton until moving to NC to be closer to family. Mrs. Waloven was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed being a homemaker and was faithfully involved with Holy Family Church, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church and later in life Holy Trinity Parish, Fulton. Shirley was also a past member of Holy Family Altar Rosary Society.
She was pre-deceased by her first husband of 38 years; Naive Elhage in June of 1978 and their sons Gerard Elhage in 1994 and Michael Elhage in 2021. She was also pre-deceased by her second husband of 36 years John Waloven in 2015 and stepchildren: Patricia Nappi in 1997, Anne Jurenko in 2010 and John Waloven in 2018 and siblings Victor LeRoux and Donna Staie.
Mrs. Waloven is survived by her 4 children: Mark Elhage of Fayetteville, NY; Christine Hunter of Cardinal Ontario Canada; Joanne Weldin of Lincolnton, NC; Linda Johnson of Snow Hill, NC; 2 stepchildren: Gregory Waloven and Christopher Waloven both of Hannibal, NY; 2 siblings: Patricia McCreery of LaFargeville, NY and Judy Zembiec of CA. She is also survived by numerous beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Calling Hours will be conducted 8:30 to 10:30 AM, January 3rd at the Sugar Funeral Home Inc., 224 W. 2nd Street S., Fulton followed by
Funeral Services to be held at 11:00 AM on January 3rd at Holy Trinity Parish, Fulton. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Joseph Scardella.
Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fulton.
