Martin A. Benedict

Martin A. Benedict, 81, of Oswego died Tuesday October 6, 2020 at his home with his loving family by his side. Mr. Benedict was born in Syracuse the son of the late Carl and Marjorie (Sallsbury) Benedict. Mr. Benedict worked for Carrier Corporation of Syracuse for over 35 years, where he was a forklift operator, and a union steward.  Mr. Benedict was very adventurous and at age 73 decided to get his motorcycle license where he enjoyed riding free in the open air, and become a life member of the Hades Hounds L.E.M.C., NY.  He was the captain of the Keder Khan Field Band, where he was nicknamed “Moose” in 1982 he was past Monarch of Keder Khan Grotto, Syracuse, NY. He was a member of the Blue Lodge, Crossroads Lodge #520, F.& A. M. in Solvay, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Lodge Council Chapter consistory Scottish Rite bodies in the valley of Syracuse.  He was life member and Past President having served as president during the years of 1975 to 1977, 1980,1981, 1983 to 1987, and from 1990 until 1993, for the South Bay Volunteer Fire Department, Cicero. Mr. Benedict was a past member of the South Shore Association of Oneida Lake Inc. He was a proud member of the National Guard 27th Armored Division and 208th Tank Battalion from 1957 until 1960.

He was predeceased by his wife Barbara J. Benedict in 2006 and his brother Richard Benedict in 1988.

Mr. Benedict is survived by his loving family, children Martin A. Benedict Jr. of Oswego, Deborah Tesoriero of Oswego grandchildren Dana Murray, Morgan Murray both of Oswego, and his sisters Dorothy Hill of Bridgeport, and Martha (Jim) Balla of Central Square.

There will be no services. The arrangements are in the care of the Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home 147 W. 4th. St. Oswego.
