Linda Welcher Shaper, 71; of Old Brookville, New York; formally from Fulton, passed away in her husband’s loving arms Wednesday, February 14th in Sands Point Rehab, Port Washington, NY. Linda was born to the late Margaret and Clarence Welcher. She was also pre-deceased by her brother Neil Welcher. Linda was a 1964 graduate of Fulton High School and a 1968 graduate of Syracuse University. She worked as a buyer of merchandise and women’s clothing for retail stores in New York City.
In 1970, Linda married her husband Richard Shaper. They worked together operating their business Quantium Instrument Linda as acting Vice President until her health began to fail.
Linda is survived by her husband of 47 years Richard Shaper of Old Brookville, NY; two daughters: Alie Shaper of the Hamptons, Leah Shaper of Colorado, her sister Sherry (Jerry) Welcher Root of Elbridge, NY and several nieces, nephews, cousins. A Memorial Service and burial were held privately February 20th followed by a dinner for family and friends in Glen Cove, NY.
