Norbert “ Norb” LoosenNorbert “Norb” Loosen, 81; of Fulton passed away after a long illness Tuesday at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Syracuse, NY surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Syracuse, NY to the late Francis and Georgena (Butterman) Loosen. Mr. Loosen has been a resident of Fulton for most of his life. He was a United States Veteran having served in the Marine Corp. during the Korean War from 1953-1954. Mr. Loosen retired in 1996 from Northern Bituminous, Volney, NY where he worked as a Plant Operator for several years. He was a life member of the Fulton Polish Home and the Fulton VFW Post #569. He was also an avid outdoorsman and devoted fan of the Cleveland Browns and St. Louis Cardinals. Mr. Loosen was pre-deceased by his siblings: Louis, James, and Gary Loosen, and Gert Tracy, Joan Pallotta, and Sybil Dellomorte. He was a caring person who cherished his family and felt his grandchildren were his life. Mr. Loosen is survived by his wife of 49 years Marcia (Dickquist) Loosen of Fulton, their children: Karl A. Loosen, and Catherine G. (George Sweeting) Arigo both of Fulton, sister Karen Tice of ID, grandsons: Ryan M. Arigo of OH, Brandon J. Arigo, Andrew J. Loosen, Kaleb P. Loosen all of Fulton, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held 9:30 AM Saturday at Holy Trinity Church where a mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. John Cannoro. Burial will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fulton with Military Honors bestowed by the Fulton VFW Post #569 and the U.S. Marine Corp. Honor Guards. Calling hours will be conducted 4-7 PM Friday at the Sugar Funeral Home, Inc., 224 W. 2nd St. S. Fulton.
