Jack Jones, 74; of Oswego passed away Sunday at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Oswego, NY to the late Claude and Nina (Dingman) Jones. Mr. Jones has remained a life resident of Oswego, NY. He graduated from Oswego High School. Mr. Jones was a United States Veteran having served in the Air Force for 5 years from 1959 to 1964. He retired after 34+ years from Alcan Aluminum in 2002. Mr. Jones was an avid fan of NASCAR and football. He was a member of the St. Joseph Golden Agers and Oswego Elks Lodge. He was pre-deceased by his daughter Colleen Jones, and siblings: Geraldine Demm, and Claude, Robert and William Jones. Mr. Jones is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 52 years Josephine DiGaetano Jones of Oswego, 3 children: Craig (Donna) Jones of FL, Christine (John Spotswood) Jones of New Haven, NY, and Cory (Tracy) Jones of Sterling, NY, 1 sister: Beverly Bonner of Oswego, 5 grandchildren: Timothy, Bryan, and Veronica Jones, Breanna and Hannah France, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends. Funeral Service will held at 8:30 AM Thursday in the Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home, and 9:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Church, Oswego where a mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Greg Kreinheder. Burial will be held in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Oswego. Calling hours will be conducted 4:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday in the Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home, 147 W. 4th St. Oswego, NY 13126. At the time of your father Claude’s passing, a popular song at the time was “Endless Sleep”. I believe we both talked about the coincidence of those two events when they happened. And while there is probably no similar song to commemorate your passing, you now have found your own ‘endless sleep’ nonetheless. You were the first friend I made when moving into the old neighborhood, and I’ll always remember you. Sleep well Jack, and rest in peace old friend.
