Walter J. Hanlon

Walter J. Hanlon, 81; of Fulton passed away peacefully at home Wednesday after a lengthy illness. He was born in Fulton, NY to the late Walter and Frances (Alnutt) Hanlon. Mr. Hanlon has remained a lifetime resident of Fulton. Mr. Hanlon retired in 1992 as the Police Chief with the Fulton Police Department where he served for 34 years. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, and the Central NY Chiefs Association. Mr. Hanlon enjoyed hunting and wintering in Florida with his wife for several years. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Carolyn Hanlon of Fulton, and their son Walter J. Hanlon III of Fulton. Funeral Service and Burial will be held privately. There will be no calling hours. The Sugar Funeral Home 224 W. 2nd St. S., Fulton has care of the arrangements.

  1. We were sorry to hear of walt’s Passing , he and Floyd were friends of my dad George Davis (deceased retired Skaneateles police Chief). And my husband retired police chief Jack McNeil… will always remember the laughs they shared at the police chiefs conferences and the kindness they showed our family
