Verna C. Palmer, 80; of Fulton, NY died Sunday, May 24th at Oswego Hospital after a long illness. She was born in Fulton and she was a resident of Clearwater, FL., until moving back to Fulton in 2000. Mrs. Palmer continued to winter in Florida. She retired as a manager from Fannie Farmer Candy Shop, Clearwater, FL. She was a member of the Holy Family-St. Michael’s Altar Rosary Society, and Holy Family Golden Agers. Mrs. Palmer was an avid volunteer at the Clearwater Community Hospital, FL, and St. Catherine’s Church where she participated as an Usher and a member of St. Catherine’s Church Senior Group. Mrs. Palmer was a member of the Board of Directors at Japanese Garden Estates, lifelong member of the Elks, and the Red Hat Society. She was pre-deceased by her husband Howard Palmer in 1997, and her sister Rose Somers in 2006. Mrs. Palmer was a loving mother to Marie A. Hansen of CA, Christine Keffer of Fulton, 3 stepdaughters Pam Palmer of Fulton, Debra Bellman of NC, and Cindy Romanick of Baldwinsville, NY, her sister Frances Miner of FL, 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted 9:30 AM Thursday at Holy Trinity Church, Fulton with Rev. Robert Stephenson. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fulton. Calling hours will be held 4:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday at the Sugar Funeral Home, Inc., 224 W. 2nd St. S. Fulton.
