SSGT. Robert R. Hotaling USMC

SSGT. Robert R. Hotaling, USMC (Ret) 62, of Hannibal, died unexpectedly at home Friday, June 12, 2009. Now at home with his Savior. Psalm 116:15 “Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.” KJV  Born December 12, 1946 in Bombay, NY.  He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp in 1964. During his career in the Marines he served two tours of duty during the Vietnam conflict. He was awarded numerous medals including: Meritorious Mast, Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, Navy Unit Commendation, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Rifle Expert Badge, and Pistol Expert Badge. He was a Drill Instructor, in the Military Police, and chief of Police for a period of time. He was honorably discharged from the service in 1986. He attended church at Emmanuel Baptist Bible Church in Martville, was a member of the Camden and Fulton Marine Corps League, Star Society Motorcycle Riding Club of Syracuse, and a founding officer of the Mohawk Valley Chapter.
Surviving are his wife: Patricia O’Brien Hotaling, 9 stepchildren, sisters Roberta Webb, Bonnie (Jeff) LeBuis, Sherry (Robert) Jones; brothers Steve (Karen) Clary of Mohawk, and David Clary of Boonville, and many special friends. Bob loved his Savior, his family, his country, hunting, fishing and anything outdoors. Memorial services to be held at a future date. The arrangements are in the care of the Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home 147 West Fourth St. Oswego.
