Amelia Bellardino

Amelia “Millie” Bellardino, 96 of West Sixth Street, Oswego died this morning in the Oswego Hospital. Mrs. Bellardino was born in Oswego the daughter of the late August and Carmella (Cordono) Gagliardo. She was a seamstress at Osted, Oswego and was a nurse’s aide at the Ladies Home, Oswego. Mrs. Bellardino was a RSVP volunteer for over twenty-five volunteering for Meals on Wheels, and at the O’Mara Welcome Center. She was a thirty –five year volunteer with the American Red Cross Blood Mobile. She was a member of the St. Joseph’s Church, St. Anne’s Society, St. Joseph’s Golden Agers, and Oswego City Senior Citizens. Mrs. Bellardino was predeceased by her husband Dominic Bellardino in 1974, and daughter Joan Bellardino in 2005, sister Edith Sherrill, brothers Anthony, Thomas, James and Joseph Gagliardo. She is survived by her daughter Frances Murn of VA, sisters Rose Ardiuni of FL, Theresa Lepore of Rochester, four grandchildren Robert, Michael, Brenda and Susan and five great grandchildren Harrison, Dominic, Michael, Christopher, and Amelia. Funeral services will be Saturday 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Sugar & Scanlon 147 West Fourth Street Oswego.  In lieu of flowers contributions maybe made to the American Cancer Society.

Henry Dixon

Henry T. Dixon, 87, of Downey Drive, Oswego died Wednesday in the Oswego Hospital. He was born in Oswego the son of the late John and May (Copeland) Dixon. Mr. Dixon retired from Niagara Mohawk as a dispatcher after many years of service. He served in the United States Navy during World War II in the South Pacific. Mr. Dixon was a member of the Oswego Elks Club. He was an avid Red Socks and Atlanta Braves Fan. He was a great athlete enjoying all sports especially golf and baseball. Mr. Dixon is survived by his wife Yolanda Dixon of Oswego, his children Mary Jean (Peter) Walker of Oswego, John (Margaret) Dixon of Oswego, Luann (Kevin) Kehoe of Oswego, Theresa (Stephen) McNulty of Boise, ID, his brother Charles Dixon of Oswego, 10 grandchildren Shannon, Peter, John, Christopher, Tony, Kevin, Erin, Kristin, Kate, Hailey, and five great grandchildren Nicholas, Chloe, Maddie, Linus, and Lyla May. He was predeceased by his granddaughter Lizzie Dixon and siblings Mary Krakowka, Frederick Dixon, and Shirley Sugar.  Mr. Dixon is also survived by his faithful companion Rocco. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday 10:30 a.m from the Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home, Oswego 11:00 a.m. in St. Joseph Church. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home 147 West Fourth Street Oswego. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to a charity of ones choice.

Anthony “Tony”  Borsetti, 58, of Garden Drive, Oswego died Tuesday at his home from complication of the heart. Tony was born in Bronx, NY and moved to Oswego in 2005. He owned and operated the East Side Barbershop in Oswego with nieces and nephew. Tony was known by many of his patrons as Uncle Tony. He is survived by his wife of 34 years Vickie Borsetti of Oswego, two daughters Jennifer Cirello of Oswego, and Margie Aprea of Florida, one brother Paul Borsetti of Oswego, five grandchildren George, Courtney, John, Brianna, and Justin. Funeral services will be Saturday 6:00 pm at the River of Life Church, 129 City Line Road, Oswego. The arrangements are in the care of the Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home 147 West Fourth Street, Oswego, NY.

Daniel L. Murrell, 44, of Fulton died Saturday June 26, in University Hospital, Syracuse after a short illness. Mr. Murrell was born in Lyons, NY, and has been a resident of Fulton for the past fourteen years. He worked as a mechanic at Oswego County Opportunities. He was a member of the Multiple Sclerosis Association, and the Boys Club of America. Mr. Murrell is survived by his wife Donna Murrell of Fulton, son Daniel Engle, daughter Mariah Murrell of Fulton, stepson John (Beth) Hotaling, of Virginia Beach, four grandchildren Matthew, Vivian, Jacob, Benjamin, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services and burial will be held privately. The arrangements are in the care of the Sugar Funeral Home 224 West second Street, Fulton.

Joyce A. Carr, 62; of Fulton died Friday, June 25th at University Hospital after a short illness.  Mrs. Carr was born in Richland, NY to the late Edward and Evelyn (Martin) Hilton.  She has been a resident Fulton for most of her life.  Mrs. Carr was an avid fan of Elvis and enjoyed being with family and friends.  She is survived by her sons:  Terry (Denise) Carr, and Art (Christie) Carr both of Fulton, 3 brothers:  Edward (Joy) Hilton of Mexico, NY; James (Ethel) Hilton of Altmar, NY; John Hilton of North Syracuse, NY; and 7 grandchildren.  Calling hours will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 AM Tuesday at the Sugar Funeral Home, Inc., 224 W. 2nd St. S. Mary Fiorini, 89; of Fulton died at Oswego Hospital.  She was born in Fulton and has remained a lifetime resident of Fulton.  Mary was past employed with Sealright, Co., for 10 years and she was a retired vegetable grower with Fiorini Farms, Fulton.  She was a past member of the Holy Family Altar Rosary Society, and Catholic Daughters Court Per LeMoyne #833.  Mary was pre-deceased by her husband Costantino Fiorini in 1996.  She is survived by her children:  Carl (Debbie) Fiorini of Baldwinsville, Vincent (Sue) Fiorini of Fulton, Palma Burke of Saratoga Springs, NY, Christine (Larry) Schwindt of Liverpool, her sister Julia Santucci of CA, 6 grandchildren:  Kristi, Brittney, Erin, Matthew, Lauren, and Andrew, 3 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.  Funeral Services will be held privately.  Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fulton.  There will be no calling hours.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Seneca Hill Manor, 20 Manor Drive, Oswego, NY 13126.   The Sugar Funeral Home, Inc., 224 W. 2nd St. S. Ida Marie Rogers

Ida Marie Rogers, 97; of Fulton died at Rosewood Heights, Syracuse, NY.  She was born in Pulaski to the late Charles Adelbert Pitsley and Nancy Elnora (Coger) Pitsley.  She lived in Syracuse before moving to Fulton.  Mrs. Rogers retired from Nestles Chocolate Co., Fulton.  She was a 50+ member of the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter #105, Fulton, and the Fralic Central City Order of Eastern Star, Syracuse.  Mrs. Rogers was also a past member of the Towpath Towers Tenants Association, Fulton.  She was pre-deceased by her husband Loren M. Rogers in 1938.  Mrs. Rogers is survived by her sister Betty Olsen of Pulaski and several nieces and nephews.  There will be no funeral services or calling hours.  Burial will be held privately at South Richland Cemetery. The Sugar Funeral Home, Inc., 224 W. 2nd St. S. Fulton has care of the arrangements.

James V. Losurdo, 91, of East Eighth Street, Oswego died Tuesday evening in Sunrise Nursing Home. Mr. Losurdo was born in Oswego the son of the late Antonio and Carmela (Ditota) Losurdo. He retired from Northern Steel, Oswego. Mr. Losurdo was a volunteer with Little League Baseball. He was an avid bowler, and was inducted into the Bowling Hall of Fame. He was a strong NY Yankee fan. Mr. Losurdo is survived by his wife of sixty-nine years Mary Losurdo of Oswego, two sons James (Cindy) Losurdo of Baldwinsville, Joseph (Bonnie) Losurdo of GA, two sisters Josephine Price of Oswego and Elizabeth Scandura of RI, five grandchildren Angela, Jennifer, Aleicia, Michael, and Joseph Jr., eight great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Natalie Zoni, Carmelina Zoni, Mary Sanford, Anne Sheldon, Joseph and Sam Losurdo. Funeral services will be private. Burial was in All Saints Mausoleum.
