Merrill T. Young

Merrill T. Young, 94, passed Sunday August 16, from this life peacefully, with his family by his side, at St. Luke Health Services after a brief illness.
He was the son of Ethel (Mayne) and Tracy Young. He graduated from Oswego High School before enlisting in the Army-Air Force to serve in WW II.
He retired as Maintenance Supervisor at the Oswego Steam Station in 1981 with 40+ years of service. He relished time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and he was often behind the lens of a camera photographing family events.
He was a communicant of Faith United Church.
Merrill is survived by daughters, Patricia (Jim) O’Reilly, Mexico; Barbara (Bob) Sugar, Oswego; Marjorie (Lyle) Whitney, Scriba; sons, Francis Young, Oswego; William (Brenda) Young, Williamstown, his companion of 15 years, Mary F. Stone, brother, Charles Young and 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Merrill was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Mary Agnes (McManus) Young and siblings Frances Wilson and Harold Young.
Funeral services will be Thursday 12 noon at the Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home, Oswego. Calling hours will be Thursday 10:00 – 12:00 prior to the services at the funeral home 147 W. 4th. St. Oswego. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Oswego.
In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted for the Merrill and Mary Agnes Young Scholarship Fund at Trinity Catholic School, 115 East 5th St., Oswego.
