Mary R. Place, 91; formerly of Fulton, NY and Freeville, NY went to God peacefully Tuesday at the Groton Community Health Care, Groton, NY. She was born in Fulton, NY and she was a resident of Fulton for 50 years prior to moving to Freeville, NY in 1987 to be closer to her sons. She had worked as a Human Resource Assistant for Gannett Health Center, Cornell University. She was pre-deceased by her husband Harry Place, son Richard Place and brothers Frank and Matthew Bevacqua. Mrs. Place is survived by her sons Gary Place of FL, Ben Place of FL., and Gerry of Newfield, NY; siblings: Fred Bevacqua of Fulton, and Tina Firenze of Fulton, 11 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held 11:00 PM to 1:00 PM Friday, May 19th at the Sugar Funeral Home, Inc., 224 W. 2nd St. S., Fulton with an 1:00 PM Funeral Service to follow with Rev. Moritz Fuchs officiating at the Sugar Funeral Home, Inc., Fulton. Burial will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fulton. Contributions may be made to the Groton Community Health Care Center 120 Sykes Street, Groton, NY 13073-1231.

Such a very sweet lady. I loved the friend that you were to my Mom for many years as you were neighbors in Freeville. And then in the nursing home too. You were a bright spot on this earth. May you rest in peace. Also….you and Mom behave up there!
