Lawrence “Larry” Kelsey, 50; passed away peacefully at his Shelbyville, KY home Wednesday, May 28, 2014. Larry was born in Fulton, NY on December 2, 1963. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and son. Larry’s life was also filled by his love of sports. He served as a youth baseball and football coach for various teams. During his lifetime he enjoyed playing baseball, football, softball and ice hockey including the Black Knights and Ice Dogs Hockey teams. Larry had previously completed the Flying Pig Marathon in Cincinnati, OH. He was an avid Tennessee Titans football fan, and he was a team leader for the Amcor Flexibles in Shelbyville, KY. Larry was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Henry and Mable Kelsey and Maternal grandmother Philomena Proppe. Larry is survived by his wife Patricia Lynn Terry Kelsey, 3 sons: David Kelsey of Fulton, NY; Shawn Kelsey of Shepherdsville, KY; and Wesley Harrod of Frankfort, KY; 2 daughters: Katy Kelsey of Fulton, NY; and Jennifer (Sylvester) Ewell of South Boston, VA; his father Robert (Jackie) Kelsey of Statesville, NC; his mother Phyllis Proppe Kelsey of Fulton, NY; and 3 grandchildren: Arionna, and Tyson Ewell and Caden Kelsey. A Celebration of Life for Larry was conducted 2:00 PM Saturday, May 31, 2014 at the Faith Baptist Church, Frankfort, KY with Rev. Everett Hawkins officiating and the Ice Dogs Hockey Team served as honorary pallbearers. The Harrod Brothers Funeral Home, Inc., Frankfort, KY had charge of the arrangements. There will be a Memorial Service conducted Thursday, June 5th at the Sugar Funeral Home, Inc., 224 West Second St. S. Fulton, NY with Rev. Robert Stephenson officiating. Burial will be held privately. Calling hours will be held Thursday, June 5th from 2:00 to 4:00 PM in the Sugar Funeral Home, Inc., Fulton. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate expressions of sympathy in his memory be made to a local Special Olympics Organization.
