Joseph “Buck” Barillo, 96, a former resident of West Liberty Street, Oswego died Saturday evening at St. Luke Health Services, Oswego. Mr. Barillo was born in Oswego the son of the late Vincenzo and Angelina (Pera) Barillo. He worked as a Laborer for the Laborers Local #214, Oswego until his retirement. Mr. Barillo served in the United States Army, in the European Theatre, in North Africa, and the Third Army in Germany and Austria. He was a member of the Softball Hall of Fame. Mr. Barillo was predeceased by his wife Gertrude Barillo, sisters Grace King, Frances Brancato, and brothers Peter, James, John, and Michael Barillo, and stepdaughter Ellen Charles. Mr. Barillo is survived by his sisters Josephine Barillo of Oswego and Rose (Thomas) Battista of Oswego, his stepdaughter Flossie Stock of Oswego, several nieces and nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday 9:15am from the Sugar and Scanlon Funeral Home, Oswego, and 10:00am in St. Joseph Church. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Oswego. Calling hours will be Wednesday 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home 147 West Fourth Street, Oswego.
