Donald “Fitz” French

Donald “Fitz” French, 59; of Granby passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and friends. He was born to Louis H. French of Pulaski and the late Shirley Frances (Mason) and Alphonso Viscome. Fitz was born in Oswego and he has been a resident of Granby for most of his life. He retired in 2010 from the Oswego Boilermakers Local 175 after 25 years of service. In his youth he was an altar server to the area catholic churches. In his later years his passion was the outdoors. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and trapper. He was also interested in the conservation of the wild. Fitz was a longtime member of the Mad River Club and the Trappers Association. In the past he enjoyed being active with dirt bike racing, snowmobiling and 4-wheeling. He is survived by his 5 siblings: Katherine (Gene) Stone, Robert (Debra) French, Herbert French, Julie (Bruce) Knapp, and David (Gail) Viscome all of Fulton and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 AM at the Sugar Funeral Home, Inc. 224 W. 2nd St. S. Fulton with Deacon Philip Kehoe officiating. Burial will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fulton. Calling hours will be conducted 4:00 to 7:00 pm Monday at the Sugar Funeral Home, Inc.
