David J. Jodway

David J. Jodway, 63; of Fulton died Tuesday, at Michaud Residential Health Services, Fulton. He was born in Fulton, NY and he has been a life resident of Fulton. David graduated from G’Ray Bodley High School in 1966. He was past employed with Nestles, Fulton. He started boxing in February of 1966 training under the tutelage of former boxer Sam Galizia. He participated in the Golden Gloves and won many trophies. David qualified for the National Championship in 1968. David had many memorable matches showing that he had all of the tools of the boxing game to succeed and excel to the top. Then on the night of July 19, 1971, he was in an unfortunate motorcycle accident that left him in a coma for over a year. He has been a resident of Michaud Nursing Home since 1980. Mr. Jodway was pre-deceased by his father Donald Jodway in 2001 and his mother Elaine Jodway in October 2011. He is survived by 2 sons: Scott Jodway of Cato, NY and Brian Jodway of Port Byron, NY, 3 brothers Terry (Darlene) Jodway of Fulton, Michael (Katie) Jodway of Fulton, Danny (Linda) Jodway of Marion, NC, 1 sister Cathy LaPage of Fulton and several nieces and nephews. Graveside Services and Burial will be held 10:00 AM Friday at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fulton with Rev. Moritz Fuchs officiating. Arrangements in the care of the Sugar Funeral Home, Inc., 224 W. 2nd St. S. Fulton, NY.
