Betty Restuccia, 90, of Scriba died Friday May 13th peacefully at the home of her daughter and son-in-law. Mrs. Restuccia was born in Oswego the daughter of the late Edward and Enola (Smith) Buske. Mrs. Restuccia was a secretary at SUNY Oswego, prior to working for the United States Coast Guard as a documentations officer until her retirement in 1986. Mrs. Restuccia was the co-founder and vice president of OCAWL. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister. Mrs. Restuccia is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Bettijoe and Joe Solazzo of Scriba, brother Carol Buske of Minetto, sister Linda Buske of Oswego, and her grandchildren James Solazzo, Melanie Coleman, and great grandchildren Tyler, Austin, Dylan, and Isabel, and many nieces and nephews. In addition her faithful companions Kristi, and Fred survive her. Funeral services and burial will be private. The arrangements are in the care of the Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home 147 West Fourth Street, Oswego.
Betty was such a wonderful, caring person and caretaker for the many beautiful, furry lives she saved. My mother, Jane Bullock, and I were loyal supporters of everything she stood for and accomplished. I hope that her dream is still flourishing, and that she’ll be able to watch over her beloved OCAWL with pride. Bettiejoe – please know you’re in my thoughts.

A friend from the 1970’s when I lived on W 5th St in Oswego, she was such a caring person, I stopped by one day to urge her to connect to the internet in her search for caring folks for lost animals, not sure if she ever did. There are not many people around like Betty, will always remember her. World is a better place because of Betty.
