Barbara Marie Scruton, 84, of Hannibal died Monday November 17, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family. Mrs. Scruton was born in Sterling the daughter of the late John and Pearl (Hart) Matthews. She retired from General Electric, Syracuse after years of service. Mrs. Scruton was predeceased by her husband Charles “Bill” Scruton in 1998. She is survived by her children Peggy (Michael) Pisa of Oswego, Steven (Anne) Scruton of Pennellville, Alan (Stephanie) Scruton of SC, Kevin (Brenda Taylor) Scruton of Hannibal, 12 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Funeral services and burial will be private. The arrangements are in the care of the Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home 147 W. 4th. St. Oswego.
I loved my Aunt Barb. I loved visiting with her at my Mom’s house when she was still with us. They were very close. I am saddened with their passing.
Aunt Barb and Uncle Bill used to spend Christmas Eve with us when I was a little girl….that was a long time ago. Those were happy days. I always loved seeing them all year through.
She made the very best glazed donuts!!!
